Norton Cafe Racer Day..........

but no pics from me as I although I set off I only actually got as far as Tetbury, where I'd arrange to meet my friend Pete, who owns my last build blue/grey Cafe Racer. My latest build started to play up a few miles after I'd left home, but thought if it got no worse I'd stick with it. Sadly by the time I was arriving in Tetbury the misfiring had got really bad and arriving at the Tesco's petrol station it turned out that Pete had a flat rear tyre............Oh Joy!
He then had a farcical telephone call with Carole Nash to organise breakdown, but they had no record of his policy even though he's been with them for 20 years and had just renewed 2 months previous. After about 45 minutes they finally found his payment. It also turns that he has previously recently been stopped by the Police enquiring about his insurance status. I also have another friend, also called Pete, who has a similar issue with Carole Nash that has been dragging on for a few months and has actually been notified on intent to prosecute due to his details not appearing on the motor insurance database which is used by the Police etc.
Carole Nash certainly is not the Carole Nash of old!
Anyway, here's a pic of two Guzzi's feeling sorry for themselves

  1. I don't really know much about cars, and there aren't many 4-wheeled vehicles about which I've ever thought "wow, wish I had one of those", but I do appreciate engineering beauty, and this happening is about as eclectic as an event can possibly be. You're going to find your Ferrari SWB's parked next to your Riley Kestrels, and may have to step aside to let a jaw-droppingly immaculate late 60's Dodge Charger park up. Some of the marques park up near each other (Porsche drivers particularly seem to need the reassurance!) but for the greater part, the Sunday Scrambles are just a huge melange of the incredibly rare, the eye-wateringly expensive, the unique, the comfortably mundane... if it's on 4-wheels, it's here, and just when you think you've seen everything, something else parks up that no-one ever thought they'd see outside of a museum, or Dubai Airport Duty Free Shopping.

If you're into 4-wheels, and haven't been, next up is January 6th 2019. Dress warm. Oh, and do know that, fabulous as the 'on-site' gathering is, what's parked up in the regular car park, on the airfield itself, will likely move you to tears.

Not really a bike event, but there's generally a smattering of interesting stuff, and if you're riding something genuinely interesting, just bluff your way into the 'fenced area'. They're all enthusiasts, so there's nae bother.

I took some photos, but really, the eye is simply over-whelmed and it's hard to know what to point the camera at.
