Guzzi Cafe Racer

I got a new project underway a couple of months back and after making some good progress it's slowed up with the frame being away getting some seat support brackets welded on. When it comes back I'll then be scratching my head as to whether to have side panels or not? Also, for only the second time (3rd time if I consider the old Raceco race bike) in my 24 / 25 years of owning Guzzi's I'm considering having de-linked brakes on it. Not sure why I'm considering the latter as I like the linked system?

Benjamin Clementine - Colston Hall 2017

I'm really very glad that I made the effort to go to the Colston Hall on Friday evening to see Benjamin Clementine. It was a last minute decision and I had to go on my own, but because of this was also able to get a seat in the Stalls just 12 rows back from the front. I have to say that in the first  30 - 40 minutes of the show there were a few songs / chants that I wasn't that keen on and could also have lived without some of the minor theatricals. However, I came away feelin' that I'd just seen somebody pretty special as his voice / style are fairly unique and the Bass player and Drummer were a excellent accompaniment too

Moto Guzzi Roadster Cafe ..........

.............and a few hours of pootling around some fairly local roads.
A couple of days ago I decided to put a few more miles on the Brown Roadster and to take some pics with a view to advertising it for sale.
I headed out for the village of Castle Combe - it's only 15 mls from our house, a lovely place as a backdrop and should be relatively tourist free in Oct / Nov. Didn't really have a plan after that, but wasn't intending to be out too long so then went a few more miles onto Biddestone, nearly to Corsham and then back through Slaughterford. This latter place I've passed the sign for many times, but never been to. Turns out that it's a single track road in out of the village so it's very much hidden away. Interesting facts are that there is a old  Rag mill - closed down - there which once turned textiles into pulp and this product went to another local mill where it was turned into paper. Also in AD 879 King Alfred defeated the Danes here.
I must go back as apparently there is walk where you can get a better look at the Mill and it's 9ft water wheel.

Beautiful view which the pic just doesn't do justice to

MASH & SWM motorcycles

I went for a short spin on my Brown Roadster Cafe today into the Wiltshire countryside out via Avebury Stones and then back through Malmesbury. A few miles outside Malmesbury is the small village of Brinkworth with a m/cycle dealership of DMA m/cycles. Initially I thought it was a classic bike parked up, ut after turning around to take a closer look found it to be a modern build by MASH m/cycles of France. Went inside and had a good long chat with the salesman about them, the SWM's - built in Italy and bikes in general..............a very friendly fella!
I thought that the TT40 in particular was a very nice motorcycle and the red model not too different in colour from my own half faired Guzzi.

BMW 'Go to Work' Special

My friend Martin is up to his old tricks again building a BMW Boxer up mostly for use as his commuting to work bike (he's put his Morris Minor project on hold for the time being) As he uses the bike all year round he wants a element of practicality about it using three spoke wheels for ease of cleaning. I'm not sure about the rest of it,but already due to the wheel arrangement he's had make up a disc carrier. The rear wheel would have been a long way out of line with the front so he's had a load of weld put into the centre so as to be able machine it to suit and then bringing everything back into line.

Cimatti 50cc for sale

My friend and mot tester,Stan,at Pete Robson m/cycles has this 1971 CIMATTI 50 for sale. Starts very easily and the engine sounds great, lights etc all work, but just needs registering. He would like £1500 or no doubt a decent offer might secure too. It does need the l/hand toolbox lid making, though that looks like it shouldn't be too difficult. You'll also get the rather natty little helmet, but for it to fit will need a head the size of a walnut!
